Wortise leads the AdTech market – with its new anti-fraud technology, it detects and eliminates over 100 fraudulent applications.

As part of our ongoing mission to protect the Wortise ad ecosystem, we are pleased to announce that we have developed new technology to mitigate fraudulent activity on our platform.

Following the example of Google, which banned over 1.4 million apps and 174,000 developer accounts to protect Android users from malicious applications, Wortise has taken similar measures within the advertising ecosystem. Specifically, we have detected and terminated relationships with over 100 accounts and 350 applications due to their involvement in ad fraud.

This technology has allowed us to detect and remove over 350 fraudulent applications that were generating unethical revenue on Wortise. These applications, disguised as fake loan services and fictitious video calls, had implemented VPN systems to encrypt their traffic and hinder investigation.

To strengthen security on our platform, Wortise has implemented stricter verification requirements for developers. This essential step, also adopted by Google, has resulted in a decrease in the number of accounts used to distribute applications that violate our policies.

As we continue to work on improving security and privacy at Wortise, we are committed to following in the footsteps of Google, which, during 2022 and 2023, blocked 2 million applications that violated policies and closed nearly 500,000 inactive, abandoned, or fraudulently used developer accounts.

As our platform expands, we are working closely with our developer community. Our goal is to equip them with the tools, knowledge, and support necessary to build applications that are secure, reliable, and respect user data privacy and security.

At Wortise, we remain steadfast in developing technology that allows us to uphold our commitment to maintaining the integrity of our platform and protecting our users. We will continue to adopt industry best practices and stay up to date with the security standards set by technology giants like Google.

How did we detect them?

Our product and data intelligence team has developed a series of tools capable of detecting applications and games with malicious behaviors.

The tool analyzes real-time monetized applications within the Wortise network and checks parameters such as CTR, application name and category, as well as whether it has permissions to use Android VPN services. Examples of detected applications include:

Apps with titles similar to “Loan Cash” and its variations, offering fake loans to users.

Applications with the title “Video Call,” which are not actually video calling apps but instead mask various types of intrusive ads.

General applications that use VPN services with the sole purpose of proxying ads to obtain a higher eCPM from a country with higher CPC. (For example, apps that actually have traffic from India but simulate that their users are from Canada.)

What to do if you have been affected by this measure?

We regret to inform you that if your account has been affected by this initiative, you will no longer be able to monetize with Wortise, and your account will be officially canceled. As a result of this action, we will no longer be able to provide you with ads or any additional support.

Furthermore, please note that you will no longer have access to your account. When attempting to log in, you will see a message on the screen detailing the policy violation that led to the breach of our terms and conditions.

We understand that these changes may create uncertainty, and we are committed to providing you with as much clarity as possible during this process. Our Policy team is available to assist you and address any questions you may have. You can contact us via our email address: [email protected].
